Post #5 - Computers In The Workplace
Education
The functions of computers in the field of education, with
my understanding of information technology and with my small background as a
head-start teacher, are to help record and document student academic progress,
facilitate communication between educators concerning students’ academic
progress, create lesson plans, researching new information for curriculum, and
access current educational policies and procedures. To my best knowledge,
computers are crucial in today’s field of education, being that computers
science education is “introduced in K-12 schools across the globe” (Lindberg,
Laine, & Haaranen, 2019, as cited in Litts, B. K., et al., 2021). Computer
literacy for employees in the education field is crucial, especially in today’s
age of technology and how the covid pandemic altered how the education system
uses computers and technology forever. Over the next ten years, I believe that
the evolutions in computer hardware, operating systems, and networking will
continue to change and shape the education system in ways that hopefully bring
education to more people, creating a free environment of learning for everyone.
The functions of computers in the field of education are
multifaceted. With my understanding of information technology and my background
as a head-start teacher, I have come to recognize their importance in various
aspects. Computers serve to record and document student academic progress,
facilitate communication among educators regarding students' achievements, aid
in lesson plan creation, support research for curriculum development, and
provide access to current educational policies and procedures (Litts et al.,
2021; Lindberg, Laine, & Haaranen, 2019).
According to Lindberg, Laine, and Haaranen (2019, as cited
in Litts et al., 2021), computer science education is being introduced in K-12
schools globally, highlighting the increasing significance of computers in
education. Especially in the era of technology and the lasting impact of the
COVID-19 pandemic on the education system, computer literacy has become crucial
for employees in the education field. The pandemic has forever transformed the
way computers and technology are utilized in education.
Looking ahead, I foresee that advancements in computer
hardware, operating systems, and networking will continue to shape and
transform the education system. These developments hold the potential to make
education more accessible to a broader population, fostering a free and
inclusive learning environment for all individuals.
In conclusion, computers play a vital role in education,
supporting various functions such as academic progress tracking, communication
among educators, lesson planning, curriculum research, and accessing
educational policies. As technology continues to evolve, it is imperative for
educators to embrace these changes and adapt their teaching practices
accordingly, ensuring that students receive a quality education in the digital
age.
